Don Lee Moran
August 24,1933 - August 23, 2017


DEFOREST - Donald Lee Moran, age 83, got his wings one day short of his 84th birthday on Wednesday, August 23, 2017. Donnie was born on August 24, 1933 in Madison, WI to Robert and Gladys (Ylvisaker) Moran. He grew up in DeForest and graduated from DeForest High School in 1951. Donnie was a Korean War Veteran and received his first formal radio training there. He attended the Wisconsin School of Engineering. He was a chief engineer at WBEV-AM, Beaver Dam before accepting a position at WKOW radio and TV in Madison, where he was in charge of studio and transmitter engineering. Donnie retired from the Educational Communications Board (ECB). He married Dorothy Quamme and after she passed in 1999 he married Eleanor Krisher in 2001. Donnie enjoyed hunting, fishing, raising ducks, beekeeping, and going to the cabin. Donnie will be greatly missed.

Donnie is survived by his wife of 16 years, Eleanor; children, Donn (Peggy), Debbie (Bob) Bishop, and Daren; step children, Cindy (Dennis) Sommer, Mike, Ron (Tanoea), Don (Michelle), Jeff (Tammy), and Willie Krisher; grandchildren, Melissa, Matthew, Megan, Rory, Heidi, Tyler, and Garrett; step grandchildren, Mike, Joey, Dr. Lacy, Dr. Breann, Kyle, Andrea, Danny, Cody, and Cory; 8 great grandchildren; 4 step great grandchildren; brothers, Rollie of HI and Jim (Cindy) of WY. Further survived many other family and friends.

A service will be held at CHRIST LUTHERAN CHURCH, 220 South Main Street, DeForest at 11AM on Wednesday, August 30, 2017, with Rev. Charles Peterson and Rev. Sue Beadle presiding. A Visitation will be held from 9AM until time of service on Wednesday at the church.
